NEW REVIEW! How to Tame a Modern Rogue by Diana Holquist
Diana Holquist blends two favourite genres, Regency, England and Contemporary America, and she sets the stage for a feel good romantic story. If your a fan of Susan Mallery, you will find this book a must read.
Ally Giordano is about to leave her home in New York City for San Francisco and a brand new teaching job when she finds out that her aging Grandmother could be suffering from dementia. Why else would Grandma believe that she’s living in her favourite Regency novel? Ally’s not about to turn her back on the woman who raised her. Unfortunately, Ally’s care and the new medication that her Grandma is on, Grandma continues to fall deeper into her Lady Donatella persona, and tells Ally that she’s found the perfect man for her. The virile and handsome Dulcet Duke will sweep Ally off her feet and rescue her from impending spinsterhood.Advertising whiz and modern day rake Sam Carson doesn’t take life too seriously, he believes in living one day at a time and having a lot of fun while doing it. Sam has got absolutely no problems going along with Grandmas Regency delusions. If she wants him to be a Regency Duke, he’ll then he’ll be a Regency Duke - that is until he kisses Ally and it seems all bets are off even tho the charade continues. Sam figures out he’s falling hard for Ally, which throws a crimp in his plan. And Sam finds out that getting Ally to trust him, isn’t as easy as he thought.
Sam is a fun character, and Ally is a bit stiltish, tho still she is likeable. Grandma is a hoot and her character really holds the story together, guiding it through each part of the relationship. It’s a fun story, one that you won’t be sorry you picked up.
